The City Of The Future
Dubai South is an integrated microcity that is being developed by the Government of Dubai, based on the inspired vision of the ruler of the emirate - His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Dubai South development spans across 145 square kilometres and is designed to be an economic zone to support logistics, aviation, exhibition, commercial, humanitarian and residential business around Al Maktoum International Airport. The development currently comprises of 7 subparts that make up the Dubai South area: Dubai South Residential District, Dubai South Commercial District, Dubai South Logistics District, Dubai South Aviation District, Dubai South Humanitarian District, Dubai South Golf District and Dubai South Exhibition City.
The vision of Dubai South leads to the aspiration of creating a site for ‘The Centre of Tomorrow’. Previously known as Dubai World Central, Dubai South is estimated to be able to sustain a population of one million residents. The economic zone will support numerous types of business and industry while creating an estimated 500,000 jobs. The regal vision of the Dubai South area is to create a city of happy, creative and empowered people coexisting in an inclusive society. The Dubai South area aims to become a preferred place to live and work while developing into a pivotal hub in the current global economy.
The Dubai South development is anchored around Al Maktoum International Airport. Once the Al Maktoum International Airport is completed, it will become the world’s largest airport transporting more than 160 million passengers per year. It is deliberately positioned near the Expo 2020 site where the Dubai Airshow will take place. The Dubai South location is parallel to Emirates Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road making its position central, relative to Dubai’s city network.
The Dubai South area is directly connected to the Jebel Ali Port. Dubai South development can take advantage of its strategic location connecting both sea and airports. The area will have easy access to the upcoming Etihad Rail network granting ease of transportation to different parts of Dubai. Downtown Dubai is 40 minutes away from the Dubai South location, and residents can make their way down to visit all that the metropolitan hub has to offer. The development is creating a self-sustained urban destination that invests in businesses, families and individuals and helps them grow and prosper.

Dubai South is located very close to Dubai Parks and Resorts, a major theme park located in Dubai.
