With the current changes in our nature, what can we do to protect, preserve, and respect nature with our daily lives? These are some of the important points that the Terra, Dubai Expo 2020’s Sustainability Pavilion would like to impart to us and have us explore the relationship between nature and people.</p>
Main Contents	<h2> <strong>Terra- The Sustainability Pavilion</strong></h2> <p> </p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> <span style="font-size:14px;">The newly opened Terra, The Sustainability Pavilion will take its visitors on an immersive and emotional journey through the wonders of the natural world, how nature it is deeply rooted in the reality of life with its interactive walk through the roots of a forest where every footstep affects the ‘wood-wide-web’, and the difference they can make through their behaviors that will genuinely make an impact and empowering them to become agents of change.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> </p> <p> <span style="font-size:14px;">Designed by Grimshaw Architects led by Andrew Whalley (Chairman and Partner), says that the inspiration for Terra was the Eden Project in Cornwall UK. Terra will be one of Expo’s signature experiences that features a giant solar canopy on top of the pavilion with over 1,050 solar panels, with the locally designed 18 energy trees (e-trees) in the gardens that rotate to follow the path of the sun. These solar panels produce four gigawatt hours per year of electricity – enough to power a car halfway through Mars and could also charge 890,000 mobile phones.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> </p> <p> <span style="font-size:14px;">The Sustainability pavilion is built partially below ground that makes the ambient cooler, while its canopy that is shaped like a Ghaf tree provide shades below and keeps the area cool.</span></p>
Content 1	<h2> <strong>A 100% Self-Sustaining Energy & Water Building</strong></h2> <p> </p> <p> <span style="text-align: justify;">Terra Pavilion approximately covers 25,000 sqm, with 6,300 sqm of exhibition area. Aside from the solar panels that will produce a self-sufficient energy, it also has a technology that extracts humidity from the air to put it back into the building system to generate its water needs, and a greywater recycling system that aims to reduce water use by up to 75%, making it a net zero energy and water building in the middle of the desert, showing that sustainability is achievable anywhere.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> Every aspect of the Terra Sustainability Pavilion building has been considered from a sustainability aspect, enabling it to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) platinum certification. This is the highest level of environmental certification that it is possible for a building to have.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> </p> <h2> <strong>Step Inside Terra’s Immersive Experience</strong></h2> <p> </p> <p> <span style="text-align: justify;">Terra has been designed as a series of immersive experiences that connect visitors with the natural world. A journey through Terra will take you around 45 minutes of exploration, entertainment, and activities. Terra visitor experience includes:</span></p> <p> </p> <ul> <li style="text-align: justify;"> <span style="font-size:14px;">A travel through time with its <strong>Arabian wadi</strong> where cheetahs and mega elephants roamed.</span></li> <li style="text-align: justify;"> <span style="font-size:14px;">Interactive walk through the roots of the forest, where every footstep affects the <strong>‘wood-wide-web’</strong>. This is basically all about how trees speak to each other, how they share resources, how they protect each other, and how they attack each other or attack foes.</span></li> <li style="text-align: justify;"> <span style="font-size:14px;">Discovering the beauty and mysteries with the <strong>‘Under the Ocean’</strong> exploration</span></li> <li style="text-align: justify;"> <span style="font-size:14px;">Uncovering the hidden harmful impacts of our daily choices through <strong>consumption halls</strong> that will also talk about the various changes we face in the world today.</span></li> <li style="text-align: justify;"> <span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Meeting ‘Gnasher’</strong> – a giant consumption machine that shows how natural resources are being destroyed to make consumer products.</span></li> <li style="text-align: justify;"> <span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>The Laboratory of Future Values</strong> – showcasing solutions to the eco challenges we are facing.</span></li> <li style="text-align: justify;"> <span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Children’s gallery with playground</strong> where the key themes would include awareness about use of plastic, recycling, and deforestation.</span></li> <li style="text-align: justify;"> <span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Terra café</strong> – where all food and beverages will be sustainably sourced and packaged, and visitors will learn where their food comes from and how it affects the environment.</span></li> </ul> <p> </p> <p> </p> <h2> <strong>A Brighter Future After Expo 2020 Dubai</strong></h2> <p> </p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> John Bull, the Director of Terra, The Sustainability Pavilion says “The vision has always been for Terra to be an ongoing project, not just for Expo 2020 Dubai, but for beyond. There will be a short transition period, with some small changes to the exhibition and to the building. After this, we will re-open as a Science Centre for Dubai.”</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> “We will continue to tell this story about sustainable living and to inspire people. We want to equip them with the skills to come up with new ideas to move societies forward.”</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> </p> <h2> </h2> <h2> <strong>Visit Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion Now</strong></h2> <p style="text-align: justify;"> </p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> Go on an unforgettable journey at Terra, The Sustainability Pavilion and enjoy all other fun experiences onsite, including live entertainment, a children’s play area and F&B options. The Pavilions Premiere will provide an opportunity for visitors to experience, discover and engage with Expo 2020’s Thematic Pavilions <strong>from 22 January 2021 to 10 April 2021</strong>.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> The limited-time preview will start at Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion, followed by Alif – The Mobility Pavilion and Mission Possible – The Opportunity Pavilion later in the first quarter of 2021.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> </p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> A total of 3,000 guests at a time can be accommodated because of enhanced health and safety measures. Each Pavilions Premiere visit costs <strong>AED 25</strong> and bookings can be made from 16 January.
